How to answer part (b) questions

An example question: ‘Explain why a Christian might regularly give to charity’

An example answer:
All Christians try and follow the teachings of the Bible because they believe it contains how God wants them to live. The Bible says a lot about God’s heart for the poor. In the Bible, St. Paul says that God likes a cheerful giver and that people should set aside money on a regular basis to give to the church to help the poor. The Bible also teaches that you can’t claim to love God and ignore those in need, that loving God and loving other people are the same thing. Elsewhere Jesus teaches that God will judge people on the basis of whether they care for the poor or not.

This answer gives reasons behind why a Christian might do this or that, in this case, give to charity.

A Christian might regularly give to charity because it is said that God sends terrible punishments to those who do not treat the poor and weak with care. God does not care for a persons worship if they do not care for the poor, or help them.

An example of this is a parable called ‘A rich man and Lazarus’: a rich man died, as did the beggar outside his gate. The rich man went to hell but the poor man went to heaven. The rich man was allowed to send his brothers a warning, even though they have already been warned, for centuries, that they shouldn’t ignore the poor.

Jesus himself said, “treat others how you want to be treated”. I’m sure if you were poor you would want help to get yourself out of the terrible predicament. For this reason a Christian may decide to give their possessions or wealth to the poor.

-- would this also be an appropriate answer?

Amber there is some good stuff here. I'd change the line 'God sends terrible punishments' to something like 'the Bible suggests there are eternal consequences for ignoring the poor'.

You might also want to add things like, 'St Paul says we should give to others because God has given us so much' and/or 'the bible teaches you can't claim to love God if you ignore those in need'
